Biography
Capt. Allan Post has extensive knowledge in and experience with marine education, maritime operations and emergency management. While at Texas A&M, he has guided several large construction projects, including shoreline stabilization following Hurricane Ike, the Clipper Pier service life extension, and marina construction. Serving as the emergency management coordinator, Capt. Post led the response efforts for the evacuation and reconstitution of hurricanes Harvey and Laura and the historic 2021 ice storm. He earned Bachelor of Science degrees in Meteorology and Oceanography from the State University of New York Maritime College. In 2013, he graduated from the Lyndon B. Johnson School of Public Affairs Governor’s Executive Development Program at the University of Texas, and later received a masters degree from Texas A&M’s Master of Maritime Business Administration program in 2016. Capt. Post also holds numerous maritime licenses, including a Master 1600 ton inland and Great Lakes motor or steam vessels license, a Master (Non-Navigating) Passenger Carrying Barges license, and a Third Mate unlimited tonnage upon oceans. Throughout his maritime education and operations career, he has overseen the construction of four newbuild vessels and the refit of others.
