Biography
Rogelio Oliva holds the Robyn L. ’89 and Alan B. Roberts ’78 Chair in Business in the Department of Information and Operations Management at Mays Business School and is a research affiliate at MIT Sloan’s System Dynamics Group. His research focuses on the interplay between behavioral and technical aspects of organizations and their impact on operational performance, and it examines the intersection of psychology, sociology, and human behavior in operations management, exploring how these factors influence operational decisions and outcomes. Current interests include behavioral operations management, retail and service operations, and the shift of product manufacturers to service providers. His work has appeared in journals like Management Science, Organization Science, and the Journal of Operations Management. Dr. Oliva teaches operations management, supply chain management and management information systems in the MBA and Executive MBA programs. He has experience in small manufacturing businesses and consults on service and manufacturing operations, organizational change, and system dynamics models. He is currently the editor-in-chief of the Journal of Operations Management.
